I propose a method of income taxation that allows taxpayers to decide how they want funding allocated. A base amount could still be required. For example:

Imagine ten farmers. Each farms for 10 hours a day.
One day, one of the farmers invents a machine that assists with the farming, reducing each farmer’s workload to 9 hours a day. Is the machine a great invention that the farmers should utilize?
Not necessarily. If building the machine, generating electricity for it, maintaining it, etc. requires an aggregate, average of more than 10 hours a day, then it will have created additional work for the farmers.
We live in a very advanced society. And in an advanced society, we have the technology/option to work less. But we don’t.
